Gesellschaftskritisch-problemorientierter Chemieunterricht

Entwicklung und Erprobung von Konzeptionen für einen gesellschaftskritisch-problemorientierten Chemieunterricht

In diesem Projekt wurde ausgehend von verschiedenen älteren Arbeiten der Ansatz eines gesellschaftskritisch-problemorientierten Chemieunterrichts entwickelt. Dieser hat sich ursprünglich am Thema Biodiesel kristallisiert und ist mittlerweile auf ein Vielzahl anderer Themen erweitert worden. Hier wird der Kritik nachgekommen, dass der Chemieunterricht in Deutschland zu sehr an der fachinhaltlichen Struktur der Bezugswissenschaft ausgerichtet ist. Das erworbene Wissen ist in der Regel nicht anwendbar und insbesondere werden die Schülerinnen und Schüler zu wenig befähigt, sich Fragestellungen aus ihrer Lebenswelt mit dem erworbenen Wissen zu erschließen. Dies schließt ausdrücklich Aspekte ethischer und gesellschaftskritischer Reflexionen über die Nutzung naturwissenschaftlicher Anwendungen in Alltag und Technik ein. Der hier entwickelte Ansatz zielt auf ein erweitertes Wissenschaftsverständnis und eine reflektierte Perspektive der Rolle von Chemie in der Gesellschaft durch die Einbeziehung kontroverser Diskussionen und Entscheidungsprozesse ab. Hierzu konnten Unterrichtskonzeptionen und -medien – einschließlich entsprechender Experimente – entwickelt, erprobt und evaluiert werden, die eine – in diesem Sinne – stärker allgemeinbildende Ausrichtung des naturwissenschaftlichen Unterrichts erlauben und auf allgemeine Qualifikationen im Bereich der Kommunikations- und Mitbestimmungsfähigkeit abzielen.
